Just when you thought watches and home appliances are the only things which can get “smart”, apart from phones of course, Google and Levi’s teamed up to release a smart jacket last year. Incorporating a mini-computer called Computer Trucker, the smart jacket, aka Commuter X Jacquard smart jacket, developed by Google ATAP technology, has been regularly getting new added features, with today marking the release of a new “Always Together” feature.
Always Together – With Your Jacket And Smartphone
The Jacquard app previously got the “find your phone” feature just around the time it was launched, last year. What it basically did was triggering your phone to ring at full volume when a particular gesture was performed to with your jacket on. Taking it one step further, is the Always Together feature. As Android Police reports the Always Together feature is an “automatic alert you can set up to trigger when the distance between your phone and jacket becomes too great. The alerts work both ways — you’ll get a notification on your phone, and the jacket’s tag will start illuminating and vibrating — so it’s just as useful for remembering a forgotten phone as a forgotten jacket.”
The Commuter X Jacquard smart jacket was released in late 2017, but Google has been consistently updating the Jacquard app and giving the smart jacket some new features. The jacket allow users to make calls, receive messages, turn on music and do a lot more stuff without even taking out their devices. The features can be controlled by the various gestures, which in turn is controlled by a detachable sensor in the sleeve and can be configured by the Jacquard app.
Priced at 350$, the Commuter X Jacquard smart jacket, might be priced a bit on the higher side, but the features it brings to the plate are pretty good. The latest Always Together feature might be a pretty worthy addition for all the smart-jacket owners out there, although it might not attract more people to buy the jacket.
