There’s no direct reason behind this error occurring for some users, but to fix this issue, we need to enter the Safe Mode on the PlayStation 3 and then restore the file system.

  1. Press and hold the PlayStation 3’s power button for at least 10 seconds to shutdown the system and release the power button.
  2. Press and hold the power button for seven seconds. You’ll hear two beeps with a message displaying on the screen. Press the PS button on the wireless control to start the console in Safe Mode.
  3. Using your controller, scroll to the 3rd option of the Safe Mode options which says “Restore File System: Attempt to repair all areas of the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) where files can be saved. If corrupted data cannot be recovered, it may be erased.” Wait while the file system is restored and then follow the instructions on the screen to get back to the main screen.
  4. Sign back into the your Sony Entertainment Network account, and this time there will be no error.
