A lot of users are conflicted about suddenly losing the ability to copy and paste on the web version iCloud Notes via the contextual menu. This is quite peculiar since iCloud Notes users have been using this function for years.
Although it’s unclear which company is at fault for this (Apple or Microsoft), Windows users no longer see Icloud Notes contextual menu when right-clicking. Instead of picking up the editable region like it used to do, it seems to be referring to the background instead.
Keep in mind that the issue is in no way specific to a certain browser as it seems to happen on every popular browser as long as the operating system of the user in Windows.
How to Copy & Paste on iCloud Notes on a Windows-based PC
If you’re looking for a workaround for this particular issue, the following approach might help. Unfortunately, you will not be able to use the contextual menu as you’ll be stuck using the traditional, keyboard approach.
Here’s a quick guide on using the keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste from iCloud Notes under Windows:
- Use your mouse to select the text that you wish to copy – either from within iCloud Notes or external.
- Press Ctrl + C to copy the previously selected text.
- Open the application that you want to paste the text into (also works with other Apple software products) and use the Ctrl + V shortcut to paste the text.
We are aware that this approach is less than ideal if you’ve got used to using Apple’s contextual menu, but this is the only workaround until the issue is sorted out – which is very unlikely since the issue has been going around for several years now.
