Fix: Destiny Error Code Boar

If you are currently receiving the Boar error code, you may be losing connection to the PlayStation Network or the Xbox Live, depending on which console you are playing on. Additionally, the error is sometimes caused by an update which is paused or canceled by a user which probably brings some bug fixes which then occur after the update fails to install.

No matter what caused the Boar error code on your PC, make sure you follow the solutions below in order to check just what might have gone wrong and act accordingly to prevent the error from occurring ever again.

Solution 1: Install Pending Updates on Your Console

If there are some updates waiting to be installed on your console, make sure you install them and try running Destiny again since some users claimed they found a pending update after the error code started occurring. After installing it successfully, they claimed the game started running normally again.

Before you start, it’s advisable to clear the cache by restarting your Xbox One or PS4 entirely. You can find out just how to do it by visiting destiny error code termite and checking under the Restart your console paragraph.

Xbox One Users:

1. Press the Xbox logo button located on your controller in order to open the guide.
2. Navigate to Settings >> All settings >> System >> Updates.

3. Check to see if there are any pending updates under Console update available. If there exists a started updating process, make sure you resume it and be patient since users have reported that these updates usually take a while even though they are small in size.

After the update is installed successfully, make sure the game is updated entirely by checking under its settings on your Xbox One console.

1. Turn on the Xbox One system and sign into your desired Xbox profile.
2. Press left on the D-Pad and navigate to the Settings menu. Locate the All Settings option and click on it.

3. Navigate to the Power and Startup menu and click on the Power Mode and Startup option.
4. Select the “Keep my console, games & apps up to date” option.

If you are having problems with turning the option above on or if you simply can’t keep your games automatically updated due to a variety of reasons, you can also manually update Destiny in a couple of easy steps:

1. Turn on the Xbox One system and sign into the desired Xbox profile.
2. On the Xbox Home menu, select My Games and Apps and navigate to the Updates section of the menu.

3. Select Destiny and then select Update. You can follow the download progress in the Queue section of the menu.

PlayStation 4 Users:

1. Click the PlayStation button to navigate to the function screen and then open Settings >> System Software Update.

2. Your system automatically checks the Internet to see if you have the latest version of the system software. If there is an update file for a later version, it is downloaded to the system. When downloading is complete, a notification message should be displayed in the upper left corner of the screen.
3. Navigate back to the function screen and select Notifications >> Downloads. Follow the instructions which appear on screen in order to complete the installation.

You can also update PlayStation if you are currently experiencing networking issues on your PS4 using a computer and a USB storage device.

1. Turn on your computer and create a folder called “PS4”. Open that folder and create another folder called “UPDATE”.
2. Download the update file for your PS4 from PlayStation’s official website and move it to the UPDATE folder you just created. Name the file “PS4UPDATE.PUP”. You can download the latest update file by navigating to this location.

3. Move the whole PS4 folder you created on your computer to the root folder of the USB storage device you own. Make sure you have at least 320MB of free space on the USB drive. Connect the USB drive to your PlayStation 4.
4. Turn on your PS4, click the PlayStation button to navigate to the function screen and then open Settings >> System Software Update.

5. PS4 should automatically recognize the update files if you have named the folders and files correctly. Simply follow the instructions on screen in order to proceed. If the file is not recognized check to see if you have named and placed the folders correctly in the previous steps.

After you have successfully updated your PS4 to the latest version available, it’s time to actually update the game itself entirely. PlayStation 4 updates the games automatically by default but it’s also quite possible that there has been an error where the game failed to update properly.

1. Open the PlayStation 4 main menu and use the left thumbstick to navigate to Destiny or Destiny 2 (depending on which game is causing the issue).
2. After you have selected and highlighted Destiny, press the Options button on your controller and select the Check for update option which pops up.

3. If there is indeed an update available for your game, you will receive the following notification:

An update file for this application is available.

4. You will be prompted to go to the Downloads screen so click the X button and you can follow the progress of the update if there is an update available. Select Destiny by clicking the X button and confirm your decision to indeed update the game.

Solution 2: A Workaround for PlayStation Users

This solution was able to help PlayStation users and its purpose is simply to use another account just to download the update and switch back to your original account before starting the game. This might take a while since you will need to create an account, switch accounts, etc. but it’s quite worth it since it helped plenty of people deal with the error code.

First of all, you will need to delete Destiny’s game data from your console. Don’t worry, since deleting this won’t make you lose your progress or similar since your information is tied directly to your account. The process is somewhat different for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 users so follow the steps accordingly.

PlayStation 3:

1. From the PlayStation 3 Home Menu, navigate to Game > Game Data Utility. Make sure you select Game Data Utility. Do not select Saved Data Utility, as this will delete all of your saved games files.

2. Locate the game data utility file (i.e. name of a particular game you have been playing) you wish to delete. Press the Triangle button and select Delete. Press the X button to confirm the deletion. This will remove the game data utility file for the selected title you’ve selected.
3. You will be prompted to reinstall this game data utility file if you wish to play this game again; the reinstall process may take several minutes.

PlayStation 4:

1. Navigate to Settings >> Application Saved Data Management >> Delete.

2. Select Destiny or Destiny 2 accordingly and place checks next to the types of data you wish to get rid of.
3. Select the Delete button and click OK in order to confirm your decision.

Now it’s time to create another PSN account and a new user on your console. The only thing you need to take care off is that the location and address of the new account matches the game’s region since you won’t be able to use it otherwise.

1. Start up your PS4 and navigate to New User >> Create a User or User 1 on the PlayStation Log-in screen.
2. This should create the local user on the PS4 itself, not a PSN account.
3. Select Next >> New to PlayStation Network? Create an Account > Sign Up Now.

4. If you select Skip you can choose the avatar and name for your local user and play offline right away. Go to your avatar on the PS4 home screen to sign up for PSN later.
5. If this is the first time you’re using this PS4 go to User 1’s Profile on the PS4 home screen and enter your details and preferences and select Next on each screen.
6. If you’re under 18 when you enter your birthday, you’ll create a local user for offline play and you’ll need to ask an adult to approve the account later.
7. Don’t give an earlier date of birth because it’s against the PSN Terms of Use to give false information.
8. If you’re over 18 and want to use your credit or debit card on PlayStation Store make sure the address you enter here matches your card billing address.
   
9. Make sure you have access to the email address you enter because you’ll need to verify it.
10. Create an Online ID and enter your first and last name. Your Online ID is your publicly visible name that other users on PSN will see.
11. Choose your Sharing, Friends and Messages settings (three screens). These are for your account only; they don’t affect what other users on the PS4 will see.

12. If you’re under 18, account creation ends here and you can either ask an adult to sign in with their account to authorize PSN access or play offline until they do.
13. Check your email and click the verification link. If you didn’t receive an account verification email, check the spam and junk folders.
14. If you still can’t find it, select Help to change your email address or ask us to resend the email. Select Log in with Facebook to link your PSN and Facebook accounts or Do This Later.

You will need to choose this account the next time you start up your console so go ahead and do it.

1. Launch Destiny while logged in with this fake account and start the required update which is causing the Boar error code.
2. When the download finishes, exit the game and login into your original PSN account. Try running the game again and check to see if it is working.
