With the Six Invitational 2020 underway, Rainbow Six Siege developer Ubisoft has unveiled the next season of the first-person shooter. Operation Void Edge is set to be the first season of the game’s fifth year, and here’s everything we know about it.
Operation Void Edge
Although Ubisoft’s teaser didn’t reveal much about the operation apart from its name, we already have a good chunk of information thanks to leaks and datamines. The cover art for Operation Void Edge is very different from the previous ones. The tagline for the operation is “Look into your darkness”, which is just as mysterious as it is vague.
Moving onto the details, the new season entails an array of additional content, including two new operators, balancing changes, and potential operator reworks. None of the information comes from official sources, so take the following details with a grain of salt.
According to recent leaks, the new operators are codenamed Oryx and Yana. The former is a heavy-weight 130KG male defender of “eastern appearance” who supposedly “breaches walls with his body” , and the latter is a female attacker whose gadget involves some sort of holograms.
Once again, their loadouts consist of reused weapons, which is surely going to upset many eager fans expecting fresh weaponry. The loadout for the operators was leaked by Ubisoft themselves via a test server datamine, so it’s unlikely that the information here will change much, if at all.
- ARX200 (with vertical grip capabilities)
- MK1 9mm
- MP5 (no ACOG slot)
- Bailiff 410
A full reveal panel for Operation Void Edge will take place on February 15th during the Six Invitational event. Ubisoft will share complete details on everything new in the operation, and will also share an expected release date. Furthermore, the last day of the event will feature a year 5 panel in which Ubisoft will outline the future of Rainbow Six Siege for 2020.
