Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Will Have a ‘High Degree of Freedom,’ Naoki Hamaguchi

While the next entry in the Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy XVI, is just around the corner, there is another Final Fantasy project that fans are hyped about: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It is the second part/chapter in the remake trilogy of the iconic Final Fantasy VII and is expected to release in the latter half of 2023 (Winter 2023).

The hype around the title is justified, considering the fact that Final Fantasy VII is one of the most loved and commercially successful Final Fantasy games, and the Final Fantasy VII Remake didn’t cover the complete grand story of the original game, as there’s a lot more to explore outside Midgar. While the first installment, Final Fantasy VII Remake, left players hungry for more, this upcoming chapter promises to give players the freedom to explore, at least that’s what the latest statement from Naoki Hamaguchi (game’s director) implies.

While details about the game are still scarce, the director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Naoki Hamaguchi, recently provided an intriguing statement that has fueled speculation and heightened excitement. The official Final Fantasy VII Twitter account answered the question ‘How will players journey through the world outside of Midgar in FINAL FANTASY VII Rebirth?‘

Players will be able to journey across the wide and multifaceted world with a high degree of freedom, experiencing a myriad of different stories.”

Naoki Hamaguchi

Undoubtedly, the statement above generates speculation and excitement regarding the scale of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s world. Based on this statement, it can be assumed that players will have numerous locations to explore, if not a completely open-world experience similar to the original game.

Only time will reveal what Square Enix has in store for Final Fantasy VII fans, and as the release date approaches, we will for sure learn more about the gameplay and story. We will keep you informed as we receive further details about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. In the meantime, feel free to share your thoughts on Naoki Hamaguchi’s statement in the comments section below.
