Fall expansion for Destiny 2 will add a new game mode

The third expansion for Destiny 2, Warmind, will be available on Tuesday May 8th. The expansion will introduce new quests, weapons, armor and other quality of life changes. Players are already looking forward to the next expansion that is scheduled to launch in September alongside Season 4. The September expansion will introduce a new mode to Destiny 2.

In the Activision Blizzard Earnings call transcript by Seeking Alpha, Collister Johnson said:

“The next step in that plan is the launch of Destiny 2’s second expansion, Warmind, set for next week, featuring fresh updates and new content from our partner Bungie that make the gameplay more rewarding and the endgame more fulfilling. Bungie has a number of additional updates planned for the remainder of the year as well as a large expansion in the fall.

But even more of what’s coming this fall into the innovations and gameplay there, including to what we think will be an incredibly engaging new mode, one that introduces a whole new style of play for first-person shooter gaming generally and certainly for the shooter space that Destiny created. It’s a really exciting development. It’s one of the things that we feel really speak to the community when it comes out in the fall, and we’re really excited to share more about that. We won’t do that until E3. So as to this next expansion, head over to E3. We hope we’ll you see there and be able to talk more about it.”

The quote gives us more information about the new game mode. The mode will be innovative in terms of gameplay and will add a variety to Destiny 2. According to a few community content creators, who got hands on experience of the new content, the mode will be something completely different. Due to the terms of the NDA, they could go into detail but said that the mode introduces replay value which brings much needed variety to the game.

Activision Blizzard will be revealing more information regarding the expansion at E3 this year. If you don’t own the game, its currently $12 on Humble Monthly.
