Ex-Infinity Ward Developer Hints at ‘Modern Warfare’ for Call of Duty 2019

A tweet by former Infinity Ward Creative Strategist and Community Manager Robert Bowling suggests that the upcoming Call of Duty game will be a Modern Warfare title. The last Modern Warfare game released over eight years ago, and so it’s expected that Infinity Ward is looking to revive the franchise.

Modern Warfare

Earlier this week, a clip from a Call of Duty preview event suggested that the game being played is Modern Warfare 4. Four American football players were recorded supposedly playing the new Call of Duty game. It’s not exactly easy to hear, but fans think that the words “killstreaks” and “Modern Warfare 4” can be heard. While it may not be concrete evidence, this tweet reply from an ex-Call of Duty developer may just confirm the existence of a Modern Warfare 4.

Replying to fans who were excited about the Modern Warfare 4 tease, Robert Bowling basically confirmed the rumors. Although we’ve yet to receive an official announcement, fans have gathered from numerous rumors that Call of Duty 2019 is going to be a Modern Warfare title. We’ve received a remaster of the first game, and it’s been a very long time since the last game in the series launched. As such, it’s not illogical to think that the highly-anticipated sequel will release later this year.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 was the last game Bowling worked on as Infinity Ward’s Community Manager. Since then, he’s been working at Electronic Arts, but it’s highly likely that he has extra knowledge about the status of the Call of Duty franchise.

Although unlikely, there’s also the possibility that Bowling’s tweet is merely a tease. The wave of excitement created by the preview clip could’ve been a joke by the football players. Without an official announcement from the developers themselves, don’t get your hopes up for a new Modern Warfare title.
