Escape From Tarkov, the realistic first-person shooter, is due for a major update soon. Developer Battlestate Games announced today that patch 0.11 for the game will add heaps of new content, including a new map and a new boss. As is tradition for the Russian studio, a trailer highlighting the features of the upcoming patch has been released, check it out:
Firstly, the most significant addition of the patch is the new map. The ‘TerraGroup Lab’ is an underground laboratory complex located beneath Tarkov. The secret lab is riddled with well-armed Scavs and Raiders, who are essentially ex-PMC operators. According to the blog post, these new enemies set up camp in hard to reach locations, and make use of advanced tactics and grenades during combat.
“As this location is considered to be closed, it has special types of extractions. New mechanics imply the need to meet certain conditions for the activation of the extraction.” says head of Battlestate Games, Nikita Buyanov.
Patch 0.11 also brings with it a new Scav boss. The ‘Killa’ is a new LMG-wielding, heavily armored Scav boss. His attack strategy involves him suppressing the enemy as he closes in for the kill. “During the assault he moves in zig-zag manner, uses grenades, suppresses few enemies with the fire of his weapon, plants smoke cover on one enemy while attacking the other.”
A new consumable item is coming to Escape From Tarkov. ‘Stimulators’ are a new type of medication which can be used to temporarily boost a character’s skills. Beware, as prolonged use of stimulators can have negative effects on a character’s health.
Apart from numerous bug fixes and performance optimizations, dozens of weapons and attachments will be added to Escape From Tarkov. Melee weapons, such as knives and machetes, and new equipment like body armor and night-vision goggles are part of the update.
Battlestate Games has also given us a sneak peak at what’s to come in the next year. New mechanics, character clothing customization, new skills, and VoIP are expected to be added to the game in 2019. Patch 0.11 currently does not have a release date, but is expected to release very soon.
