With virtual reality being the hype since last year, Mind Labyrinth takes over the concept of what’s real and what’s not. The game offers a completely immersive experience with its dreamlike world, giving the player a different perspective to virtual reality.
The game is about reaching a comfortable mental state, by creating areas and images that soothe the mind, cause mental balance and with its soothing music to go along with these beautiful, yet unreal images make for a great experience. It is a title where the player chooses how to go about it, what emotions to dive into and how he percieves them. In a way, it provides for a perfect way to sit back and relax, letting your emotions take over. The announcement trailer for the game can be viewed below
The game is produced by Frost Earth studios which specialise in VR games, or worlds if it is better fitting. As seen in the trailer, different places are shown with soothing piano undertones to bring the mind to a state of rest. One may argue that this is not a game but a way of meditating. Andrea Marinelli, head of developers from Frost Earth Studios said, “I’ve known my publisher Oxygene Media for Sony PS4, which had been thinking about this project for a few years, and then we started to work together with the same intention of trying to create emotions through images and music. Sergio Pisano, the head of production, besides being a psychologist, also has huge multimedia experience beginning in the 80s—both musical and technological. So, it has been straightforward to assemble a team of experts, psychologists, sound designers, and Virtual Reality lovers. The soundtrack of Mind Labyrinth is truly unique, and the artists that have accepted and are excited to work with us are really notable; some of them have even received Hollywood Oscar awards.”
Perhaps they did achieve what they were going for with this title as only the announcement trailer gives the mind a subtle warm feeling of satisfaction and contentment. Perhaps the real depth of this game would only be visible and realisable when it comes out, for now, it is nothing more than a teaser with no release dates given at the announcement.
