It’s the end of the week and Microsoft has rolled out Windows 10 Insider build 18975. This update belongs to the 20H1 branch and is currently available to the Fast Ring Insiders.
The build brings a couple of new features along with a long list of bug fixes and changes. Most importantly, it brings the Virtual Desktop naming capability and a moveable Cortana window. However, some other changes include a reliable Action Center and a search feature in the Polish language.
Furthermore, you can now bypass the post upgrade setup page. The changelog also includes some improvements and bug fixes related to the Narrator, Magnifier and Chinese Pinyin IME.
What’s New In Windows 10 Insider Build 18975?
Moveable Cortana Window
Microsoft has rolled out a resizeable Cortana in this release. A change also allows you to move Cortana to a different location on your desktop. Microsoft aims to improve the existing conversational experience with the release of this feature. It helps you to focus on two tasks at the same time. Notably, the feature is currently available to half of the Windows Insiders. Microsoft plans to extend the roll-out for all users in the next few days.
Virtual Desktop Renaming Capability
The Windows 10 Insider build 18975 brings a virtual desktop renaming capability for Windows Insiders. Previously, you Microsoft used to assign some generic names to your virtual desktops. Now you can change the default names to something more useful for better understanding.
General Bug Fixes
Microsoft has addressed a bundle of issues related to Narrator, Notepad, crashes and out of memory issues in the recent release.
As usual, the recent release comes with a series of known issues as well. Some of the major issues are listed below:
- Microsoft confirmed that the company is currently investigating an issue with some Realtek SD card readers. There are reports that they are not functioning properly in some cases.
- The newly added Reset this PC Cloud feature does not calculate the correct amount of free space that is required in case of low disk space.
Fast Ring Insiders can now head towards the Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update section to download the Insider Preview Build 18975. Finally, the Windows Insider team has revealed its plans to start the 20H1 Bug Bash. The event will be held between September 25 and October 2. You will get some more details in this regard later this month.
