Doom 3 was an outlier in the much loved series, but in a good way. The game had a very different creative direction and the end product was more of a horror game. There’s a very wide spectrum of opinions on the game, while some people hated it, others embraced the change in direction. If you haven’t played the game yet, there’s a big reason to now if you own a PSVR, as Sony just announced a VR version of DOOM 3.
Take a trip to Mars you won’t soon forget with the power of PlayStation VR and Doom 3: VR Edition. The game arrives March 29 for PlayStation 4 and is backwards compatible on PlayStation 5. The game is a perfect candidate for a PSVR reboot due to its dark and gritty atmosphere and DOOM 3 fans will specially appreciate re-visiting the title in a VR avatar. This upcoming VR edition will include new textures, shaders and sound effects. Another interesting addition, the VR version will give players the ability to peek around corners and shoot enemies. There’s also a quick 180-degree turn functionality, DOOM 3 had a ton of jump scares so this is going to be handy.
The game is originally coming to the PS4 on March 29 but it will be backwards compatible on the PS5. For a quick peek, check out the teaser trailer below.
