Desperados III, the latest installment in the stealth-oriented real-time tactics game series by Mimimi Games, is set for release next week. After being announced almost two years ago in August 2018, the game was finally given a new release window of summer 2020 earlier this year. However, days before its official launch, the game has already succumbed to piracy.
A cracked version of Desperados III was posted in full earlier today on a popular piracy site.
Developed by the studio responsible for Shadow Tactics: Blades of Shogun, Desperados III is a Wild West-themed prequel to the first game in the series that launched all the way back in 2001. In this long-awaited prequel to the beloved classic Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, John Cooper will join forces with the runaway bride Kate, the shady hitman Doc McCoy, the giant trapper Hector, and Isabelle, a mysterious lady from New Orleans. On Cooper’s quest for redemption, his adventures lead him and his gang from rural towns, over swamps and riverbanks, and finally to a dramatic showdown worthy of Wild West legends.
Desperados III features a total of five unique playable characters, each with their own skill set. There are a number of missions that can be tackled in various styles, as the game allows for all playstyles ranging from a stealthy, non-lethal style to a guns-blazing playthrough.
It has been a long time since we’ve seen a game get cracked before release. In this case, we can largely blame it on the lack of DRM. Mimimi Games, the studio working on the upcoming title, did a great job with Shadow Tactics, so we have no doubt that Desperados III will do the series justice.
