Dead or Alive 6 Launch Faces Minor Delay to Allow for “further polish”

The release date of Dead or Alive 6, the upcoming installment in Team Ninja’s fighting game series, has been pushed back. Initially scheduled for release on February 15th 2019, the title will now launch two weeks later on March 1st 2019. The announcement was made in a statement shared by Yohei Shimbori, the director and producer of Dead or Alive 6.

“The title’s development is already near complete; however, we would like to take more time to further polish its balance, gameplay, and expressivity,” reads Shimbori’s statement. “In return for your patience, we commit to bringing you the best Dead or Alive gaming experience. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by the release delay of Dead or Alive 6.”

Dead or Alive 6

When Dead or Alive 5: Last Round launched on PC in 2015, it had less features compared to the PlayStation 3 version. It was described as being “equivalent to the PS3 version”, but the lack of several key features proved otherwise. It makes sense why the developers want to take some extra time to refine Dead or Alive 6.

Thankfully, the delay is a fairly minor one. Hopefully, two extra weeks of gameplay refinement is exactly what Dead or Alive 6 needs. Additionally, the game’s official Twitter account shared a tweet emphasizing the keyword ‘test’, possibly suggesting an upcoming demo. Dead or Alive 6 will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 1st 2019. Pre-orders for the game are now live.
