Dead Island 2 Not so Dead After All as Producer Deep Silver Plans a Re-Reveal Later This Year

Likely Sometime in Q4 2022

Remember playing Dead Island 2?…… neither. That’s because the game was in a development hell since the last console generation. Techland, the developers of the first Dead Island dropped Dead Island 2, and instead focused on making Dying Light. The game since then has been worked on by multiple studios, and that was until Dambuster Studios finally took over the project in 2019. But finally there’s some good news for fans of the original series, as according to reputed gaming industry insider, Tom Henderson, the game is probably going to be re-revealed later this year.

As Henderson reveals further in his report, the game will have a “big focus on cooperative play“. To that end, Dambuster is introducing 5-6 completely new characters in Dead Island 2. The first Dead Island game too had a well crafted Co-op mode where players could choose from 4 character options. Further, sources add, the game like the original installment will take place in multiple locations including Hollywood and San Francisco.

Better news yet, Henderson’s sources also reveal that the game is in a “decent state of development“. With one source after playing the game, claimed, Dead Island 2 could be their most anticipated game.

There’s no news on a release date yet, but Deep Silver’s parent company, the Embracer Group reported in a 2022 financial call that they expect the game to release by the next financial year, which ends on March 31st, 2023. Till then you can enjoy this very well made 2014 E3 trailer of the game.
