Darkest Dungeon, the unforgiving gothic turn based RPG by Red Hook Studios, is set to receive a content update this summer. The Color of Madness DLC introduces an alien shard that has landed towards the outskirts of the Hamlet.
The Steam page of the DLC reads:
“Some hateful shard of alien origin has streaked through the night sky, crashing into the old Miller’s farm on the outskirts of the Hamlet! Those unfortunate enough to witness the Comet’s arrival have been blinded by what they can only describe as a shifting, ephemeral hue of damnably abrasive intensity. There has been no word from the farm in a fortnight, save for the unearthly groaning that echoes from the ruin of the mill…”
A comet has crashed into old Miller’s farm on the outskirts of the Hamlet. A new region, “The Farmstead” will be available once The Color of Madness DLC is launched. Three new bosses will be added: The Miller, The Thing from the Stars, and the Comet itself. The Miller is the leader of the new enemy faction that consists his loyal workmen who are described as “eerie husks of their former selves.”
The new endless quest is a mode in which the goal is to survive as long as possible against waves of enemies. Players can top up by purchasing consumables between waves. The DLC adds new trinkets that will be purchasable from the Jeweler, a new vendor who only trades in Comet Shards. The home base will feature expansion by allowing the construction of four new District buildings. New Curios and Quirks with unique effects will be introduced.
Darkest Dungeon The Color of Madness will be released for PC, Mac and Linux on 19 June 2018. Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Playstation Vita, Xbox One and iPad will receive the DLC at a later date. It will be available to purchase on Steam for $4.99. You can add it to your wishlist to be notified when the content is unlocked.
