While CD Projekt Red’s upcoming dystopian role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 was scheduled for launch earlier this year, a series of delays pushed its launch beyond the release of the next-generation consoles. The current release date for the game is December 10th, at which point it will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Owners of the game on current generation consoles will be able to play it on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X for free. However, fans were concerned about how save migration would work, if that was even possible.
Fortunately, CDPR announced today that PS4 and Xbox One players will be able to continue playing their save file on a corresponding next-gen console. Here’s how to migrate your Cyberpunk 2077 saves to a next-generation console.
PlayStation users upgrading to next-gen can migrate their saves in three ways:
1. Connect to your PlayStation Plus account and upload your saves
2. Transfer your data via LAN cable or wireless connection (WiFi)
3. Use a compatible storage device to copy and transfer your saves to the same PSN account on PlayStation 5.

Thanks to Microsoft’s Smart Delivery feature, the same process for Xbox players is much simpler. All you need to do is make sure that you are connected to the Internet so that your saved data is uploaded to the cloud. Alternatively, users may connect both their Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S to the same network and use the system network transfer option.
To clarify, the initial version of Cyberpunk 2077 on next-gen consoles will not be taking advantage of the next-gen hardware. CDPR announced back in June that an upgrade with improved visuals and other enhancements specifically for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be made available later on. However, with the next-generation consoles being out of stock nearly everywhere and Cyberpunk 2077 itself facing delay after delay, it’s unlikely that everyone will be able to play, for one reason or another.
