The AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series of Graphics Cards are expected to arrive soon. AMD has been trying hard to protect information about these new Big Navi, RDNA 2, Navi 2X based GPUs. However, the near-final specifications of the entire series of the new cards have been collated.
AMD offered a lot of specific details about the upcoming AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series of Graphics Cards to the AMD/ATI’s Global Add-in-Board board partners, referred to as AIB. These details include new (working) drivers, final SKU names, and much more. Here are the near-final specifications of the new AMD 6000 Series GPUs:
AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT – Navi 21 XTX
AMD’s Big Navi will feature 80 Compute Units (5120 Stream Processors). This card is expected to remain AMD exclusive product but could be made by AIB partners in the future. The Radeon RX 6900XT will be the top-end AMD flagship GPU. It is quite likely that AMD might restrict the quantities of the flagship series upon launch. The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is expected to feature 16GB of GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit bus. The graphics card would manage a 2040 MHz Game Clock and a 2330 MHz Boost Clock.
AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT – Navi 21 XT
The cut-down Navi 21 codenamed XT will feature 72 Compute Units (4608 Stream Processors) paired with 16GB of GDDR6 memory. This card will also feature a 256-bit memory bus and clock speed above 2.0 GHz. The Game Clock is expected to be 2015 MHz and the Boost Clock should be under 2250 MHz. These are of course AMD reference clocks and could be altered or optimized based on the design of the shroud and cooling arrangement.
The RX 6800 non-X will feature Navi 21 XL variant with 64 Compute Units (4096 Stream Processors). Similar to 6900XT and 6800XT it will also come with 16GB GDDR6 memory and a 256-bit memory bus. The clock speeds are lower for this SKU with an 1815 MHz Game Clock and 2105 MHz Boost Clock.
The Radeon RX 6900XT, 6800XT, and 6800 will all be unveiled on October 28th.
AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT and RX 6700 – Navi 22
AMD is also releasing its Radeon RX 6700 series. However, commercial availability could be intentionally delayed. The RX 6700 series will feature Navi 22 GPU. AMD has reportedly decided to launch these GPUs at a faster rate than previously planned. The current plan is to launch them in January 2021. The Radeon RX 6700XT is expected to be full Navi 22 with 40 CUs (2560 Stream Processors). This graphics card is believed to pack 12GB GDDR6 192-bit memory.
The entire new range of AMD Radeon RX 6000 Graphics Cards will be manufactured on the TSMC 7FF Plus Production Node. These will have rather large shrouds for the high TDP profiles the graphics chips have. It is quite possible that the majority of the new AMD 6000 Series of GPUs will require a triple-fan design taking up to 2.5 slots inside a PC. These new cards will also have features like MALL and Infinity Fabric. MALL stands for Memory Access at Last Level and is a feature exclusive to Big Navi. It’s meant to provide access to the display controller to the memory hierarchy level below VRAM. Infinity Fabric is a new feature in RDNA2 that is meant to improve GPU-to-GPU communication.
