Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to Receive Campaign DLC in Late 2023, According to Insider

Call of Duty as a gaming franchise has seen its highs and lows throughout its existence. While some previous main entries in the franchise were criticized, Activision still managed to keep the COD alive with some immersive multiplayer action with games like Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile.

The latest mainline entry, Call of Duty: Vanguard, still suffered, Call of Duty: Vanguard was the best-selling new video game release of 2021, but even so, its sales were still below expectations. Call of Duty: Vanguard has sold worse than Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare and is one of the worst-selling Call of Duty games in years.

The next game in the main lineup will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare2 (2022), a direct sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reboot (2019). Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been in the news since it was announced in February 2022.

The fans’ expectations from this game are high, and they hope they will once again experience the franchise’s roots with this game. The hype is real, and the fact that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 had the biggest Call of Duty Open Beta of all time proved the fans’ expectations of this game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is around the corner, but rumors about the game are still popping up. Reliable Call of Duty leaker and insider @TheGhostOfHope tweeted, claiming that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will get a Campaign DLC along with the premium map bundle (he leaked previously) in late 2023.

@TheGhostOfHope has been actively sharing information about the post-launch updates about Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. A few days ago, he revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will get all/almost all the MW2 (2009) maps as year 2 content.

He added that the year 2 content would also include a ‘Premium Paid DLC’ ‘greatest hits map pack’; these would include other classic maps from Infinity Ward, Treyarch & Sledgehammer’s catalog.

The rumors are believable to some extent as Activision has revealed that their studios are working on ‘premium Call Of Duty content’ for 2023 and beyond in their Q2 2022 earnings report:

The fourth quarter [of 2022] will usher in a new era for the Call of Duty franchise. Anticipation is high for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, planned for release on console and PC. The sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare, the most successful Call of Duty title to date, will lead the most ambitious rollout yet across the franchise. An all-new Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 experience, tightly integrated with the premium game, will launch as an extension of the Modern Warfare universe later this year. Activision’s expanded studios also continue to make strong progress on an innovative mobile experience that will extend Warzone to the largest and fastest-growing platform. Across the Call of Duty ecosystem, the teams are well positioned to support these launches with substantial live operations, while also continuing development of new premium content planned for 2023 and beyond.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is only a couple of weeks away, and the hype surrounding it is insane. The fans are more excited than ever to experience the new installment and hope it will be the positive curve in the Call of Duty franchise’s trajectory.

The game will be released on October 28, 2022, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. We will keep you updated upon receiving any further information about these rumors.
