CD Projekt Red Delays Cyberpunk 2077 Till December Due To Release Day Patch Work

Cyberpunk 2077 or, Cyberpunk for short, has been one of the most anticipated games for quite some time now. It all started when people got to see the first look of the game. The idea that the main character was inspired by Keanu Reeves was an added bonus. Since then, people have waited for the game tirelessly. So much so that the company even launched special editions consoles and controllers. Sadly though, the game is yet to see the light. Partly because of the new, next-gen consoles that are about to come out and partly because of the slow workflow from the COVID-19 disturbances.

CD Projekt Red first decided to launch the game in April 2020. Then the COVID-19 lockdowns started all over the world and they figured that a delay till September might be the best solution. Then the game was delayed again till November. Now, as we are days away from November, and people were literally on the edge of their seats, the company made a tweet. The tweet is a statement and it is as follows.

CD Projekt Red’s official statement regarding the delay

Why Is Cyberpunk 2077 Seeing Another Delay?

Now, going into the statement itself and we see the company actually apologising for yet another delay. The statement says that the game would see a further delay till December 10th. Although they have received the gold master passing certification, there are still a couple of kinks here and there. According to them, the game’s certification means that the game is working and can be played from the start till the end. The issue is that to regulate a perfect and memorable experience for the players, they have to make the game flawless. This does get a bit tricky when there are nine different platforms for which the game is developed separately.

Not to mention, they are preparing a Day 0 patch and these issues are to be resolved in that. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, they miscalculated and ended up undercounting the days it would take to fine-tune this game for a final launch. Perhaps this would be the final time they decide to delay the title. Given that next-gen consoles would be out by that time, the game may flourish too. Not to mention, with the holiday season, it would be a fan favourite for many.
