Releasing together in a combo next month, Castlevania Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood have been confirmed for the PlayStation 4. Launching on October 26th, the Castlevania Requiem bundle will be exclusively available on the PlayStation 4. The combo, titled Castlevania Requiem, packs Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night into one bundle.
Rondo of Blood
Initially released in 1993, Rondo of Blood is regarded as one of the best classical side-scrolling action games. Featuring well-crafted levels and a challenging but rewarding difficulty, the game is regarded as one of the best titles in the Castlevania series.
Symphony of the Night
First released for the original PlayStation in 1997, Symphony of the Night is a sequel to Rondo of Blood. As a result of its “RPG elements and some mind-blowing, genius level design,” Symphony is considered as one of the greatest hits in gaming of all-time.
The two games are very similar, both in terms of story, and characters. The nostalgic experience for Castlevania fans will only be improved thanks to several new features. Castlevania Requiem is an emulation of the original and has been optimized for the DualShock 4 controller. Additionally, numerous graphical updates have been introduced to the classical titles.
“Both games are the originals emulated for the PlayStation 4, with several updates that take advantage of the new hardware. This includes 4K/1080p upscaling, multiple high resolution backgrounds, different rendering options such as smoothing and full Trophy support,” says Sony in a blog post. “Elsewhere, Requiem will make use of the DualShock 4’s vibration, analog stick and speaker, with the latter meaning you’ll hear a cool little chime when you pick up an item.”
Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood is available to pre-order now on the PlayStation Store. Upon launch, the game will retail for €19.99 in Europe, and more details regarding regional pricing will be shared soon.
