Ever since the Devil May Cry HD Collection, we haven’t heard much about the upcoming DMC projects from Capcom. Earlier this year, Hideaki Itsuno hinted about a new game, stating that it was under development and asked fans to expect it. Now, as per the reports, the time has likely come for a new title in the popular hack and slash series.
Recently, it was discovered on DMC Discord (spotted by ResetEra) that GMO Internet Group – the Japanese company that previously handled the domains of Monster Hunter and Resident Evil 7 – has now once again registered a domain devilmaycry5.com, on the behalf of Capcom.
Though the site displays nothing at the moment, it was reportedly updated a few days ago, precisely on June 1, indicating that something is about to be revealed soon officially. Not forgetting that E3 2018 is going to kick off next week so we are likely to hear about the Devil May Cry 5 there.
For those who are new to the franchise, Devil May Cry is a well-known third-person action game from Capcom. At first, it was aimed to be the sequel to Resident Evil – a well-praised survival horror series from the same studio. However, during the course of its development, it varied so much in terms of gameplay and style that the company decided to make it a series of its own.
The latest big title of Devil May Cry series, called DmC, was developed by Ninja Theory – an independent game studio in Cambridge. It was initially released on 15 January 2013 and was a reboot of the series with a new Dante – the protagonist, with some fans really liking the idea and some not.
On the side note, Resident Evil 2’s domain name was also registered, suggesting the reveal of the much-awaited remake on the coming E3 as well. However, it must be noted that no announcement is confirmed for now, but surely there is a good chance of it happening, so stay tuned.
