In some instances, the error messages indicate the cause of the problem which can help resolve the issue. However, there are various scenarios where you are left in the dark. For every issue, you can try a number of methods to mitigate it.

In this article, we are going to mention all of the known issues with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 along with a possible fix for the problem in question.

1. Call of Duty: MW2 Queue Stuck on Connecting

One of the issues you can face when playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer is getting stuck on the Connecting message. This happens when you queue up for matchmaking but the game is not able to connect you to the servers.

If you are encountering the MW2 queue stuck on connecting issues on an Xbox, you can often resolve it by enabling DSCP Tagging on your console. In addition, a lobby bug can also result in a connection problem which can be resolved by creating a new party.

Finally, in most scenarios, you will be able to mitigate the matchmaking issue by queuing up for a different game mode. Thus, leave the game mode you have queued up for by going back to the Main Menu. From there, choose a different game mode, for example, Ground War and queue up. You do not have to leave your party to do this.

Once you queue up for the new game mode, leave the queue once the matchmaking message changes from Connecting to Searching for a match. In case the issue is caused by a network inconsistency, you will have to try the other methods in our detailed guide linked above.

2. DEV Error 11642

DEV errors are pretty common in Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone 2, and there are various DEV errors that you can encounter. The DEV error 11642 mostly occurs when you are practising with bots or playing in a custom lobby.

In some instances, the DEV error 292 can also originate instead of 11642. You will have to change your in-game frames per second to resolve the issue. The issue often occurs when your in-game FPS limit is set to unlimited.

An uncapped FPS limit is not always a good option and it can even render errors on certain games due to the instability of your frames in specific game environments. To change your in-game FPS, follow the instructions below:

  1. Open Call of Duty MW2 on your computer.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner to open the Settings menu.
    Navigating to Settings Menu
    Navigating to Settings Menu
  3. Navigate to Display settings via the Graphics option.
    Navigating to Graphics Settings
    Navigating to Graphics Settings
  4. Locate the Custom Frame Rate Limit option under Display settings.

  5. Change the option from Unlimited to Custom. You can set an FPS limit according to your monitor’s refresh rate.
  6. Finally, click on the Apply Settings option.

3. Error Code DIVER

The error code DIVER is known to occur when your user data cannot be downloaded from the game servers. This can often happen due to network inconsistency. In such a scenario, you will have to change your network settings to mitigate the problem.

COD MW2 Error Code DIVER

You can start by using a different network connection, such as your mobile data, to connect to the game. In some instances, the Windows Defender Firewall can be blocking the requests made by Call of Duty MW2. When this happens, you will have to whitelist the app in the Windows Defender Firewall to overcome the issue.

Using a third-party VPN can also trigger a connection issue with the game. If you have a third-party VPN, try removing it to see if that fixes the problem for you. If you are unaware of the procedure for all of this, follow our detailed guide on error code DIVER which takes you through it all step by step.

4. Missing Fullscreen Exclusive Option

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II uses Fullscreen Borderless as the default display mode. This combines the best of both borderless and fullscreen modes. However, if you would prefer to use the traditional fullscreen mode because of the superior performance it offers, Fullscreen Exclusive is the option you should be looking for.

There are scenarios where you will not be able to find the Fullscreen Exclusive option in the Display Mode drop-down menu. This can often occur due to the Focused Mode option in the game which dims your second monitor when you are playing the game.

In some instances, the fullscreen exclusive option can go missing due to your selected display adapter. This happens when you have multiple graphics drivers installed on your computer because of an integrated graphics card. As such, if you have the wrong display adapter selected in your game settings, it will lead to the fullscreen display option disappearing.

Follow the instructions below to fix this:

  1. Start by opening the game on your computer.
  2. Then, click on the gear icon in the top-right corner.
    Navigating to Settings Menu
    Navigating to Settings Menu
  3. Navigate to Graphics settings from the Settings menu.
    Navigating to Graphics Settings
    Navigating to Graphics Settings
  4. Locate the Display Adapter option under Display settings.

    Changing the Display Adapter
  5. Change it via the drop-down menu.
  6. Additionally, scroll down to locate Focused Mode and disable it. You may not see this option anymore since it has been mostly removed, but it is still worth checking.
  7. With that done, see if the issue goes away.

5. Pixelated Textures in COD MW2

If you are experiencing pixelated textures in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2, there are various things that can be causing it. In most scenarios, you can resolve the issue by changing the graphics settings of your game.

The first thing we would recommend checking is your render resolution. If it is set to something other than 100, the game will be rendered at a lower resolution which can result in pixelated graphics.

Next up, try changing the upscaling and sharpening algorithm used by the game. Upscaling algorithms use deep learning to generate and improve game textures. The algorithm can produce blurry graphics, in some scenarios, which results in pixelated textures of the game. Therefore, changing your Upscaling algorithm should be an obvious option.

If that does not get rid of the issue, you can follow our in-depth article on COD MW2 pixelated textures for further troubleshooting.

6. COD MW2 and Warzone 2 Crashing

The interference of third-party application files with the game process is often the cause of crashing issues with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. However, it is not always bound to that.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II Crashing

In most scenarios, in-game overlays are known to cause crashing issues with different games. Therefore, you should start by disabling any in-game overlays that are present.

We have also found the display mode of the game to be the cause of the issue in some cases. If you are currently playing the game in Fullscreen Borderless mode, change it to Fullscreen Exclusive to see if prevents the game from crashing.

In addition, the interference of files owned by third-party applications can often cause the game to crash. In such a scenario, you should clean boot your computer to stop any third-party programs from launching on startup.

We have a dedicated article available for MW2 crashing on our site that takes you through all of this, and more in detail.

7. COD MW2 Not Launching

When your game is not able to launch at all, it is often due to insufficient permissions for the game process to run in your Windows environment. In such a scenario, you can often isolate the issue by running the game with administrative privileges.

Furthermore, the game can also fail to launch due to the installation directory in some instances. When this happens, you will have to change the installation directory of the game to mitigate the issue. Doing this on Steam will require you to create a new Steam library folder on your computer which you can use to move the installation folder.

Finally, missing game files will also prevent the game from launching. In this case, you can circumvent the problem by scanning the game files on your computer via the Steam or Battle.net client respectively. Our MW2 not launching article will walk you through these methods step by step.

8. Your Profile Was Signed Out

The “Your profile was signed out” error message can occur when the game is not able to establish a link with the game services. This can occur due to a protection policy of your third-party antivirus program or even your in-game voice channel settings.

In most cases, you will be able to get rid of the error message above by changing your in-game voice channel. Follow the instructions below to do this:

  1. Start by opening the game on your computer.
  2. Then, click on the gear icon in the top-right corner to open the Settings menu.
    Navigating to Settings Menu
    Navigating to Settings Menu
  3. Navigate to Audio from the Settings menu.
    Navigating to Audio Settings
    Navigating to Audio Settings
  4. There, locate the Game Voice Channel option.
    Changing Game Voice Channel
    Changing Game Voice Channel
  5. Change your Game Voice Channel to All Lobby via the drop-down menu.
  6. After doing that, see if the issue occurs again.

9. Light Through Walls

Light through walls is a common issue with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and you are likely to encounter it when playing the campaign. A workaround to this would be to restart the mission via the Mission Select menu on the Main Menu of the campaign.

Additionally, you can also try to isolate the issue by lowering your Particle Lighting. This controls the amount of light that is applied to any particle effects in the game. If you have high particle lighting, it can cause the lights to be visible through walls.

Follow the instructions below to lower your Particle Lighting:

  1. Open the game on your PC.
  2. In the top-right corner, click on the gear icon to open the Settings menu.
    Navigating to Settings Menu
    Navigating to Settings Menu
  3. Navigate to Graphics > Quality via the Settings menu.
    Navigating to Graphics Settings
    Navigating to Graphics Settings
  4. After that, scroll down to locate Particle Lighting.
  5. Lower your Particle Lighting via the drop-down menu and restart your game.
  6. See if that fixes the issue.

10. Voice Chat Not Working

If you are facing issues while trying to communicate with your teammates in Warzone 2, you will have to reassess your in-game audio settings along with Windows privacy settings.

In some cases, the voice chat in Warzone 2 can stop working due to the privacy settings of Windows. This happens when the game is not allowed to use your microphone. You can resolve this issue by navigating to Privacy & security > Microphone in the Settings app. Enable microphone access to apps on your computer to resolve the issue.

The issue can also occur due to your in-game audio settings. If your teammates are not able to hear you in-game, it can be due to the game voice channel you are connected to. In such a scenario, navigate to the Channels menu and make sure you are connected to the All Lobby voice channel.

You can find step-by-step instructions on fixing the voice chat not working in Warzone 2 issue on our website.

11. Memory Error 19 – 1367

The memory error 19 – 1367 mostly occurs when your graphics memory or VRAM is overloaded. This can happen often when your graphics settings are set higher than your PC is capable of.

In such a scenario, you can start by lowering the texture settings of your game to reduce the amount of VRAM required by the game. In addition, turning off On-Demand Texture Streaming in your Graphics Quality settings and changing your upscaling algorithm can also get rid of the error message mentioned above.

If these methods do not fix the problem for you, the graphics drivers installed on your computer can be the culprit as well in which case you will have to reinstall them to isolate the issue.

12. Error Code 0x887a0005

The error code 0x887a0005 appears when Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2 encounters a crash due to the interference of third-party files, a graphics driver’s inconsistency or corruption in the game files.

When this happens, various factors need to be considered. Start by removing any in-game overlays that you are using, for example, Discord, and GeForce Experience. With the in-game overlays removed, proceed with launching the game as an administrator and see if that resolves the issue.

Additionally, you will have to reinstall the graphics drivers on your computer and scan the game files for any corruption. The shaders cache on your computer can often result in this issue when it gets corrupted. In such a scenario, you will have to reset the shaders cache to overcome the problem.

Follow our in-depth article on the error code 0x887a0005 to perform all of these methods step by step.

13. Error Code 0x00001338

The Call of Duty Modern Warfare II error code 0x00001338 is another issue that causes the game to crash. This can be caused by the in-game character skins you are using, outdated version of Windows and more.

If you are using the Red Team 141 operator skins in-game, they can cause the game to crash due to a game bug. In such a scenario, you will have to unequip the operator skins and revert to the default skins to fix the issue.

Corrupted player data is another possible cause of the mentioned error code. The game saves different information on your computer locally, which includes player data, settings and more. In some cases, damage or corruption to this folder can conflict with the game which causes it to crash.

In addition, there are several other factors that can lead to the error code mentioned above. From outdated Windows to corrupted cache or missing DirectX12, the issue’s causes can vary from case to case. Follow our detailed guide on fixing the error code 0x00001338 to get rid of the issue permanently.
