After an accidental leak earlier today, Activision has now revealed everything coming to Call of Duty in the upcoming season two update. In addition to the usual new weapons, game modes, and operators, the next seasonal update introduces Outbreak, a “new, large-scale zombies experience”.
“Continuing the Dark Aether story, Outbreak takes place across massive play spaces throughout the Ural Mountains, packed with new enemies, team objectives, player rewards, and intel to discover on foot, in vehicles, or by jump pads,” reads the game mode description.
“Whether its hunting down elite enemies using a satellite tracker, escorting a Rover that detects dimensional portals, or holding out against zombies in a confined Dark Aether zone, agents of Requiem will need to complete these investigations before they can Exfil… or risk entering a Dark Aether portal to a new region for even more rewards.”
Specific details about the game mode and its objectives will be revealed in the upcoming days.
In the meantime, the zombies game mode is receiving a new field upgrade, a new ammo mod, and two new skill tiers. The Frenzied Guard field upgrade forces all enemies to target the user and only their armor will be damaged. The Shatter Blast ammo mod is a new entry to the elemental pop arsenal and adds an explosive touch to all bullets. Two new types of Aetherium Crystals will allow all skills to be upgraded to tier 4 and tier 5.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War multiplayer is also getting a heap of new content. Four new operators, the Apocalypse, Miami Strike, and Mansion maps as well as three new game modes will be available with season 2. New vehicles, scorestreaks, and challenges are also being added.
For the Warzone side of things, all the new weapons added to Cold War will be available in the battle royale. Two new game modes Exfiltration and Rebirth Island Resurgence Extreme will be available. Head here for the full list of patch notes.
Call of Duty Season Two will launch February 24th for free.
