Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta Adds the Close Quarters Frenzy Playlist

Today, the open beta for Blackout went live on PC. Unlike the PlayStation 4 version, the PC version of the game was launched just yesterday and, as a result, is plagued with performance and technical issues. Alongside the launch of the open beta on PC, Treyarch has added a new playlist to Blackout called Close Quarters Frenzy.

Close Quarters Frenzy

In this game mode, the number of weapons available are limited and the circle collapses much faster. “We’ve introduced the new Close Quarters Frenzy playlist for Duos, combining our Fast Collapse and Close Quarters playlists into one frantic rush to survive the Collapse using only SMGs, shotguns, handguns, and fists,” says Treyarch in the recent update post. Players seeking a more action-packed and fast paced experience will find themselves enjoying Close Quarters Frenzy.

Fans of the Call of Duty Zombies series will be glad to know that characters from Black Ops 4 Zombies and Origins cast have been unlocked in Blackout. Eight characters from Zombies including Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, Richtofen, Bruno, Diego, Scarlett, and Stanton are now playable in battle royale.

Upon the launch of the beta, the maximum player count per match was set to 80 in order to optimize the game. Today, the max player count per match for PC and Xbox One has been increased to 88. This change comes alongside a number of balance changes to equipment and weapons. Level 3 Armor, VAPR-XKG, and Koshka now spawn less frequently. The mid-range damage of the SG12 shotgun has been increased and the maximum number of several types of equipment carried in the inventory has been reduced.

Players are also encountering an infuriating but hilarious issue with wingsuit deployment which results in immediate death upon leaving the helicopter. Treyarch addressed the issue and is working on a fix. Players on the PC version of the game were also met with numerous crashes and unstable performance. “We’re tracking a handful of reasons for crashes and issues launching the game across various PC setups.”
