Battlefield V’s Battle Royale mode is called Firestorm, Details Revealed

As we approach the release date of Battlefield V, Electronic Arts has launched the open beta for the game and begun sharing details. Earlier today, the battle royale game mode for Battlefield V, called Firestorm, was revealed.

Firestorm

Firestorm is Battlefield’s version of battle royale and differs from many others in more ways than one. With each match holding 64 players in 16 different squads, the entire game mode focuses on co-operative squad based gameplay. In addition, vehicular combat plays a significant role in Firestorm.

As is the case with nearly every battle royale, some sort of damaging power shrinks the play area until a player is crowned the winner. In Battlefield V’s battle royale, a ring of fire forces players towards each other as they battle it out on a huge map featuring landmarks and point of interests. Somewhat similar to the Conquest game mode, Firestorm features Objectives which can be unlocked to reveal supplies, weapons, and vehicles.

Speaking of vehicles, combat beasts like the Panzer tank will be available in the battle royale game mode. “Getting hold off a tank can give you a great edge, but you won’t be invincible – and you need to measure risk versus reward if you challenge other squads to secure the battlefield’s most fearsome hardware,” says EA in the Firestorm reveal post. “Jumping into a transport vehicle will give your squad an edge in speed and power.”

Pre-order Bonuses

Pre-purchasing the game will entitle players to receive the Firestorm Ranger Set. This premium pack includes goggles, light battle fatigues, and the MKIII(S) Elite Combat Dagger. Inspired by Firestorm, the bonus items will be usable by all players in Battlefield V. That’s not all, however, as pre-purchasers will also get to choose five Paratrooper Outfits between eight Special Soldier Sets. Special assignments, which offer rewards when completed, will be available alongside instant access to five unique weapons from the previous game, Battlefield 1.

Battlefield V Standard Edition releases November 20th on Origin, and owners of the Deluxe Edition can hop in to the action starting November 15th.
