ASUS ROG Phone ‘05’ Leaks Online In ‘Live Images’ With Rumored Specifications and Features

ASUS has acknowledged that a new ROG Phone is in the works. However, the company hasn’t offered any details about the high-end mobile gaming device with Android OS. The brand had revealed a teaser on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. The successor of the ROG Phone 3 might be known as ROG Phone 4, but as has been the case in the past with other manufacturers, ASUS might just skip ahead and launch the ASUS ROG Phone 5.

A new live image of the alleged ASUS ROG Phone 5 gaming smartphone has leaked online. It reveals some key details and sports the ‘05’ moniker of the ROG gaming smartphone. The leak has surfaced on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo and offers some visual confirmation about the unreleased gaming phone.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 Live Image Suggests Multiple Cosmetic Changes:

The alleged leaked image of the ASUS ROG Phone 5 only shows the back of the smartphone. Nonetheless, the image hints at a significantly redesign. Essentially, ASUS continues with the over-the-top design aesthetic that’s common with the premium gaming Android smartphone.

There’s a clearly marked ‘05’ on the back. Needless to add, this further fuels rumors the company will skip the ROG Phone 4 naming scheme entirely. Many Chinese companies consider the number 4 to be unlucky. This is because the pronunciation of the number sounds very similar to the Chinese word for death. ASUS has enjoyed immense success with its ROG Phone series in China, and it is apparent that the company will not risk the same.

Besides the ‘05’, there is a ROG logo at the bottom-left corner, while the middle of the back panel comes with a white strip. Given the gaming DNA of the ASUS ROG Phone series, it is quite likely that the company might just ensure the strip lights up when the phone is on. Interestingly, there is a mystery red button at the bottom-left corner of the ROG Phone. The button could be used to activate gaming mode.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 Specifications, Features:

The camera label of the leaked live image refers to a “64MP quad Bayer” main sensor. This suggests that ASUS isn’t embedding a more powerful sensor than the previous iteration of the smartphone. As for the rest of the specifications, everything remains a mystery as there has been no official confirmation yet.

Earlier rumors and reports, however, have suggested the ROG Phone 5 will support 5G, 65W fast wired charging, and a 6,000mAh dual-cell battery. Since the ASUS ROH Phone Series packs the top-end and super-fast SoC, the most obvious candidate would be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset.
