Fresh Leak for Assassin’s Creed Mirage Prior to Launch!

Update: Assassin’s Creed Mirage has finally been announced at Ubisoft Forward on September 10, 2022. The first footage of the game has finally come out at the Ubisoft Forward event on September 10, 2022. This is months after the game went viral on the internet with supposed leaks and rumors. It’s expected that more information will be brought to light in the months proceeding with the official launch of the title.

We get to see a supercut of Basim’s life before he joins the order of the Assassins. He’s a pretty thief on the streets of Baghdad and later he rises through the ranks as he journeys to become a Master Assassin as he takes out corrupt enemies of the order. It’s pretty evident that this is a prequel to the events of Valhalla, breaking down Basim’s life and the deeper meaning behind the character as a whole.

What we got to observe was that the main voiceover character in the trailer is the voice of Shoreh Aghdasloo, from the Expanse, Destiny, and Mass Effect. She’ll be playing the role of the character, Roshan who’ll serve as Basim’s mentor and initiator into the Assassin community. Roshan is intended to be Persian, as is Aghdashloo.

The trailer features Basim engaging in fights and performing parkour maneuvers and the trailer ends with Basim removing his finger to complete his initiation as one of the Assassins.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is coming for a reveal at Ubisoft Forward slated for September 10, 2022. Tom Henderson took to TwitLonger to reveal some of the official description details for the upcoming title. And it appears we’re in for a time of our lives.

It seems like Ubisoft has approached a “back-to-basics” outlook with Assassin’s Creed Mirage. That’s quite obvious as Basim is a prominent character from the first game.

Additionally, some RPG elements have been removed, like dialogue choices and the leveling system. Similar to Assassin’s Creed: Unity, there will be a lot of NPCs on the streets. Throwing knives and roof hiding spots also seem to have returned. Parkour elements like using lanterns to swing around corners and poles to reach distant buildings will also be featured in Assassin’s Creed: Mirage.

We don’t know what the game holds for us so far but it’s expected to be a return to the original trilogy of the Assassin’s Creed Franchise. Players will get to enjoy Mirage as it returns to the iconic roots of the Assassin’s Creed series.

Mirage So Far

Fans have been waiting for a long time to get their hands on a game that features the original key mechanics that we’ve all known and love. If you don’t know what we’re talking about, it’s the core gameplay, mechanics, parkour system, and hidden blade stealth takedowns that made us fall in love with the Assassin’s Creed Franchise. Hopefully, with Mirage takes a similar route to the story as it’s set in the Middle East akin to the original Assassin’s Creed game, and is set around 850 kilometers away from the Holy Land location of the first title.

As the game is approaching the classic formula once again, stealth might play a pivotal role in the game as Basim navigates the rooftops and streets of Baghdad. Stealth was indeed one of the most crucial elements that added the Assassin to the Assassin’s Creed franchise but it slowly faded out of importance as the games moved to a more RPG-esque system. RPG elements might be stripped from the game but that’s all mere speculation.

We don’t know much about Basim or his backstory for that matter and Mirage intends to delve deep into the roots of this mysterious character. Previously, it was revealed that Basim was the reincarnation of the Norse God Loki during the period when he was mentoring Eivor in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. He was able to restore his body and wake up in the year 2020 while wearing a strange wolf T-shirt for that matter. Ubisoft might do some explaining about him being the embodiment of Loki in the upcoming title.

It’s obvious that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will serve as a tribute to the original trilogy of Assassin’s Creed titles, but the game might also feature a few tidbits of everything from all the Assassin’s Creed games released thus far. We don’t know what kind of game Assassin’s Creed Mirage will turn out to be when it’s finally announced and released. Hopefully, Ubisoft will redeem the Assassin’s Creed franchise with the upcoming title and we might get to enjoy the definitive experience of what made Assassin’s Creed the hit franchise that it once was.

Ubisoft is currently working on about five Assassin’s Creed titles so far and we might get to see an actual announcement along with gameplay footage for Mirage and the rest of the titles at the upcoming Ubisoft Forward Event slated for September 10.

Players that will buy the PS4 version of the game can automatically upgrade to the PS5 version in the event they own a PS5 console as well or would like to retain their disc after a console upgrade. This is good news for many PlayStation users that have been plagued with the inability to upgrade to newer versions of the game for free and have to opt for paying the full price tag as in the case of Persona 5 Royal Remastered.

If you already own the PS4™ version of this game, you can get the PS5™ digital version at no extra cost and you do not need to purchase this product. Owners of a PS4™ disc copy must insert it into the PS5™ every time they want to download or play the PS5™ digital version. PS4™ game disc owners who buy the PS5™ Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to get the PS5™ version at no extra cost.
