Apple to Initiate Apple Watch Production in Vietnam Ahead of Series 8 Launch

Nikkei Asia revealed recently this week that Apple was in discussions to produce Apple Watch and MacBook models in Vietnam for the very first time. Now, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Vietnam is already in charge of producing and shipping these products. Even so, it’s anticipated that Apple Watch production will accelerate in Vietnam before the release.

The media reported that Apple Watch would start mass production in Vietnam. But it's already shipping, as I know. Luxshare ICT, Apple Watch's major assembler, has production lines in China and Vietnam and has shipped from Vietnam since Apple Watch 7.— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) August 19, 2022
One of Apple’s top suppliers, Luxshare ICT, already has production facilities in China and Vietnam. The analyst also claims that some Apple Watch Series 7 devices have been shipping from Vietnam for some time. The expert predicts that by the time the Apple Watch Series 8 is released this autumn, up to 70% of Apple Watch units will be made in Vietnam. Luxshare “is the frontrunner in constructing production lines” amongst suppliers outside of China.
Long-term protection for Apple against the “deglobalization tendency” should result from the move of Apple Watch manufacture from China to Vietnam. Additionally, Kuo recently disclosed that Apple plans to begin manufacturing at least one model of the iPhone 14 series in India concurrently with China.
