Last year we saw a very complete product with the Apple Watch 4th Generation. This year, they bring the new addition to the lineup, the Apple Watch 5.

The Apple Watch 5’s announcement started with a focus on how Apple Watches have aided personal health. While the previous version lacked in some areas, the new Apple Watch covers that. The announcement began with the presenter talking about the new Always-on display. This retina display would be a step up from the last years. What this would mean is that the display would always be visible and not make users twist their wrist. It would feature the new ITPO display. What this display would do is switch from 60Hz to 1Hz dynamically according to the display and what is being displayed on the device. There is also an addition of the ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the display brightness according to the lighting it is being used in.

The GPS version would have an independent sensor which would help the users see their direction on Apple Maps according to the Watch’s direction. This is complemented with a new compass that is paired with an App on the Apple Watch 5.

The focus has been played on the battery life of the Apple Watch. With the new display and how smartly it behaves, its software integration, Apple claims a huge 18-hour battery life for the new device. This would honestly put up a new industry standard in terms of the features this product gives. It also includes a new and improved emergency calling system which allows emergency calls in up to 150 countries which would continue to expand to others.

The Apple Watch 5 would be available in 3 colors: Space Grey, Silver, and Gold. It would also come with the Nike and Hermes versions of the Watch as per tradition. The model starts at $399 for the GPS model and 499$ for the LTE one. They ended the announcement by reducing the price of the series 3 to 199$.
