Apple Reportedly Launching HomePod Mini at the Oct 13th Event: S5 Processor for $99 in The Small Budget Speaker

While Apple was one of the first companies to announce a smart speaker, other companies like Amazon and Google trumped it quite easily. Not only was Apple’s option a more premium and expensive one, the smart assistant powering it was holding it back. Meanwhile, Amazon’s Alexa and Google’s Assistant not only made things easier but they started off at a smaller price bracket. Slowly, we saw the HomePod being pushed below in ranks on the Apple Website. This is how Apple banks its failures, by the way. Now, we are days away from the next Apple event and everyone is hoping for a next-generation Apple HomePod. What we talked about in a previous article as well: Apple needs to work on a more budget-friendly smart speaker. Perhaps, the company had that in mind as well.

The article embedded in this tweet points toward a post from L0vetodream. According to the rumour, Apple may be pushing towards a budget-friendly smaller HomePod. Now, we do not know about the specs of it in detail. The report details that the speaker would measure in at 3.3 inches only. Not to mention, it would be powered by the S8 chipset. This is the same chip found in the Apple Watch Series 5 and the latest Apple Watch SE.

Now, this is just a rumour and all but according to the article, the company would be pushing the speaker out for $99. Although not in the same category as the Google Home Mini or Amazon’s Alexa Dot, it is still pretty cheap considering its Apple. Not to mention, it would also boast good build quality, typical to Apple’s style. If it does follow the suit, Apple would be announcing the product next week along with the new series of iPhones. Not to mention, it would be available from the following month in November. Let’s hope we get to see it this year.
