Apple Quietly Announces New Upgrades To iMac 27-inch: Better Processors, Graphics and SSDs all Across

This COVID-19 spread has actually ruined most of the announcements and extravagant keynotes we got to see. It seems as if this new normal is just pretty dull. Which it is, not going to lie about that. Take Apple, for example. The company’s events are to die for. their Apple campus, their minimalist attitude towards everything. It is just amazing. Speaking of Apple events, the company quietly refreshed its iMac lineup. Now note, these are just the 27-inch models that have been refreshed. The others are mildly touched upon.

Right off the bat, the saddest part has to be the design. Apple continues to use the 7-year-old design which by now seems quite dated. Even for a desktop computer, the huge bezels are just annoying. Not to mention, the lack of a matte black color option is a letdown.

Now, on to the good things. The company has now outfitted the 27-inch models with Intel’s latest 10th Gen processors. Perhaps they aren’t really waiting to put Apple Silicone in these devices. Perhaps Apple’s chip is reserved for the 21-inch models for now. Another huge upgrade is that SSDs are made standard across all models. Better AMD GPU options are available as well, not to mention a much better 1080p Webcam on the front.

These new upgrades allow these iMacs to deliver excellent performance, not to mention, reach levels they simply could. The company has shared the change in performance, its improvement from the previous generation in its announcement post here.

Other minor upgrades include a nano-texture covered screen for the 5K machine. This would be similar to the Pro Display XDR. This allows better viewing angles, vibrant colors and better anti-glare capabilities. It supports better speakers and studio-quality microphones, same as the ones found in the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
