While the Apple iPhone XS and Apple iPhone XS Max have been released we are still waiting for the more affordable Apple iPhone XR that is going to be coming out in the upcoming weeks. We are getting reports that the upcoming Apple iPhone XR is facing some supply issues and that the manufacturing orders are being shifted from Pegatron to Foxconn.
Economic Daily Newspaper reported that Pegatron is facing capacity constraints and delayed shipments of key components and that is something that Apple cannot have, keeping in mind that this is going to be a major seller due to the smaller price tag.
Pegatron was supposed to be responsible for 50-60% of the total production and Foxconn would handle the remaining number but things are not going as planned and the manufacturing of the Apple iPhone XR has been shifted to Foxconn.
The product at Pegatron has been affected by lower yields due to a shortage of workers at the Chinese plant. Making matters worse, the supply of LCD displays has not been stable either. Things keep getting worse for Apple but this quick move could save the company a great loss.
Something to keep in mind is that Apple needs to have the iPhone XR in stock in order to meet demand as the phone is going to be available for pre-order starting October 19 and will be available on the 26th of the same month. That is little more than a month from now.
Foxconn might be able to handle the additional load keeping in mind that it has the capability of making 300,000 Apple iPhone XR smartphones in a day. That is indeed a very impressive number. While the iPhone XR is an impressive device and according to Apple standards it is a budget device, it should be noted that the LCD that is used for the device has a resolution that is lower than 1080p. This means that you will not be able to consume media at 1080p, which is standard in the smartphones space.
Keeping in mind the price that Apple is charging for the iPhone XR, some would say that it is not worth it. That is something that I will leave up to you to decide.
