Apex Legends: Which Legends Are The Best and Why

Based on our playthrough and opinions

Apex Legends is a new class-based battle royale from the developers of Titanfall. The game opts for a different approach by featuring Legends, each with their own unique ability, as playable characters. Furthermore, the game promotes team-play by forcing squads of threes. In order to win games, players will need to select Legends that complement each other’s abilities.

Lifeline

Lifeline

A medic in every team-based game is a must have, and Apex Legends is no different. Lifeline’s capabilities extend far beyond healing and faster revives, making her a valuable asset to literally any team. Regular use of her Care Package ultimate ability ensures that your team is always well-equipped for any engagements. Although it has the slowest cooldown of any ultimate in the game, the use of ultimate accelerants can vastly speed it up.

Bloodhound

Bloodhound

Bloodhound is a “technological tracker” whose purpose is to keep a team aware of its surroundings. His passive Tracker ability allows a team to gain knowledge of nearby enemies. While the Eye of the Allfather ability briefly spots enemies, the Beast of the Hunt ultimate can completely turn the tide of a battle. Faster movement, enhanced senses, and the ability to see enemies through walls makes Bloodhound a top-tier offensive Legend.

Mirage

Mirage

Being one of the two locked Legends, there are many players who have yet to play as Mirage. At first glance, the ability to send out holographic decoys doesn’t seem all that powerful. However, if a decoy manages to distract an enemy for even one second, they risk revealing their position to Mirage. As Mirage, the best thing you can do is use Psyche Out to attract enemy gunfire while you flank around to decimate your opponents. Moreover, his ability can also be used to make a hasty retreat if things go sideways. Lastly, the Vanishing Act ultimate not only deploys a team of decoys, but also cloaks Mirage. It can be argued that Mirage is a very situational Legend, but there is nothing more satisfying than winning an engagement after a successful flank.

While these are arguably some of the best characters Apex Legends has to offer, this doesn’t meant that a team should only consist of these three. Personally, I believe that the only must-have is Lifeline. The other two Legends you pick entirely depends on your team’s playstyle. For example, bringing  Wraith would benefit an aggressive team more than it would a passive one.

Apex Legends is available to play for free on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Origin.
