Apex Legends “Fight or Fright” Event Kicks Off On October 15th With New Shadowfall Map

Season three of Apex Legends launched earlier this month, and it seems there’s another wave of content arriving very soon. After weeks of rumors and leaks hinting at a Halloween event, developer Respawn Entertainment has officially announced the Fight or Fright Collection Event. The limited time event launches later this month on October 15th, and takes players to a nighttime version of Kings Canyon.

Fight or Fright

From October 15th until November 5th, Apex Legends players will be able to play Shadowfall, a spooky take on the original Kings Canyon map. In addition to Halloween-themed premium cosmetics, Respawn has added new event challenges through which players can earn free loot.

Shadowfall

With New Dawn replacing Kings Canyon as the default map in season three, Respawn has been busy prepping the original for the spooky season. In Shadowfall, 35 solo players drop into a grim-looking Kings Canyon wrapped in scary decor.

The twist, however, is that upon death, players join the Shadow Squad and respawn as an undead version of their character. Similar to Call of Duty’s popular Infection game mode, players part of the Shadow Squad gain superhuman abilities. While they can’t use any weapons, the zombies have a “brutal” melee attack and have unlimited respawns.

Once the game comes down to ten living players, they must cooperate and make their way to an evacuation ship while the Shadow Squad attempts to stop them.

Cosmetics

On the cosmetic front, the Fight or Fright event adds a total of 24 themed limited time cosmetics. In addition, Respawn has tweaked the store so that the new gear is accessible to more people.

“We strive to give players choice in how they can obtain in-game cosmetics, so for this Event we’ve updated the ways players can unlock these premium Collection Event cosmetics,” writes Respawn.

All Fight or Fright cosmetics can be purchased either directly or via Event Apex Packs. Directly purchasing legendary and epic skins will set you back 1800 and 1000 Apex Coins, respectively. Alternatively, players can spend 700 Apex Coins for an event pack, which contain zero duplicates.
