AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Desktop CPUs With ZEN 3 Cores Official Promising Fastest Single-Threaded CPUs For Gaming

AMD has officially launched its latest line of processors that are based on the company’s own ZEN 3 Core Architecture. This new generation of AMD CPUs appears to be a direct threat to Intel in the latter’s most confident domain: Gaming. While Intel is still trying to sell its 10th Gen CPUs fabricated on the 7nm Node, AMD has confidently moved all its CPUs and GPUs to the 7nm Production Process.

AMD has just announced its next-generation 7nm ZEN 3 architecture-based Ryzen 5000 CPU lineup. Apart from the new ZEN 3 Architecture, AMD is promising several new features that enhance gaming performance along with delivering impressive IPC gains. These CPUs have been steadily appearing in leaks and benchmarks, and nearly every aspect has been documented. Still, end-users will now have access to real-world tests and results which shouldn’t be far from previous reports.

AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Of CPUs Based On 7nm Node And ZEN 3 Architecture To Take On Intel?

AMD CEO, Dr.Lisa Su announced the company’s next-generation Ryzen 5000 processors which are based on the new ZEN 3 core architecture. The announcement was made during the official “Where Gaming Begins” keynote. Incidentally, this new generation of AMD CPUs will still be compatible with the AM4 Socket Motherboards. In fact, not only will the older 400 Series and the newer 500 Series of Motherboards will support the Ryzen 5000 Series CPUs, even a few older 300 Series boards could accept these with a BETA BIOS.

AMD’s CEO took the opportunity to highlight several key aspects of the latest AMD Ryzen 5000 Series desktop CPUs, including specifications & performance numbers. AMD is promising a 19 percent IPC increase over the prior generation in PC workloads. The new ZEN 3 Architecture is specially designed to address the bottlenecks faced by gamers such as core-to-core latency. AMD assures the ZEN 3 architecture reduces latency from accelerated core and cache communication and doubles the directly accessible L3 cache per core while delivering up to 2.8X more performance-per-watt versus the competition.

AMD Ryzen 5000 Series To Include AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, And AMD Ryzen 5 5600X:

AMD’s top-end CPU in the ZEN 3 Ryzen 5000 Series is Ryzen 9 5950X. The flagship CPU features 16 Cores and 32 Threads. The chip has a total cache of 72 MB and a TDP of 105W. The chip features a Boost Clock of up to 4.9 GHz. The AMD Ryzen 9 5950X is going to cost $799 US and will be available on the 5th of November like the rest of the lineup. Users demanding heavy multi-threading performance on AM4 sockets will appreciate the CPU, assures AMD.

The Ryzen 9 5900X is a 12 core 24 Thread CPU that is meant for users demanding heavy multi-threading performance on AM4 sockets. The chip has a total cache of 70 MB and a TDP of 105W. The chip features a base clock of 3.7 GHz and a Boost Clock of up to 4.8 GHz. Sporting a price tag of $549 US, the CPU beats Ryzen 9 3900XT with just a $50 margin. This CPU competes with the Intel Core i9-10900K. AMD assures its Ryzen 9 5900X offers up to 15 percent single-threaded performance jump over the competition in Cinebench R20 and up to 21 percent in gaming.

The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X is an 8 Core and 16 Thread CPU. It is a premium CPU meant for buyers who look for all-around performance. The chip features a total of 36 MB of cache and a TDP of 105W. The CPU is expected to be priced at $449.

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is a 6 Core and 12 Thread CPU completes the AMD Ryzen 5000 Series. It boasts of the impressive Base Clock speed of 3.7 GHz and 4.6 GHz Boost Clocks. The chip features a total of 36 MB of cache and a TDP of 65W. The CPU is expected to be priced at $299.

The entire AMD Ryzen 5000 Series lineup is being manufactured by Taiwan’s TSMC on the 7nm Fabrication Node. The ZEN 3 Architecture is certainly way ahead of the previous ZEN 2 iteration, promising 19 percent uplift in terms of IPC and up to 24 percent higher performance per watt as well.
