AMD Radeon RX 6800XT Synthetic Benchmarks Leak Proving Big Navi At Par NVIDIA Ampere?

Details about the AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series of Graphics Cards, based on the Big Navi, RDNA 2, or Navi 2X Architecture have been appearing online consistently. The latest information about the AMD Radeon RX 6800XT, in the form of synthetic benchmarks, indicates AMD is rapidly catching up to NVIDIA, but might not earn the ‘NVIDIA Killer’ tag, yet.

Alleged performance benchmarks for the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT “Big Navi” graphics card have leaked. Incidentally, this is the only Graphics Card from the new AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series that will be manufactured by AMD as well as AIB partners initially. The synthetic benchmarks are based on the UL 3DMark GPU testing software stack. It is important to note that the Graphics Card appears to be an early-stage engineering sample, and the numbers could change significantly as AMD and AIB partners finetune the GPUs before commercial launch.

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT “Big Navi” GPU 3DMark Benchmarks Indicate Powerful 4K Performance But Ray Tracing Still A Challenge?

The benchmarks for the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT “Big Navi GPU” graphics card include 3DMark Firestrike Ultra (4K), Time Spy Extreme (4K), and Port Royal Default (4K). The Radeon RX 6000 series “Big Navi GPU” graphics card has been tagged as”E438″. The card was compared to the GeForce RTX 3080 and the GeForce RTX 2080Ti graphics cards from NVIDIA.

The alleged AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card appears to score 12,781 points in 3DMark Firestrike Ultra at 4K resolution. The GeForce RTX 3080 appears to score 10,531 points while the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti scores 8,210 points. This means the AMD 6000 Series GPU is supposed to be 22 percent faster than the RTX 3080 and 56 percent faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.

Moving on to 3DMark TimeSpy Extreme at 4K resolution, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT scores 8,230 points. The GeForce RTX 3080 used for comparison scored 7,978 points while the Geforce RTX 2080 Ti scored 6,933 points. According to the synthetic benchmarks, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is claimed to be around 3 percent faster than the RTX 3080 and 19 percent faster than the RTX 2080 Ti in TimeSpy.

In the 3DMark Port Royal, which was tested at the default 4K resolution, the Radeon RX 6800 XT scored 4387 points, while the RTX 3080 and RTX 2080 Ti scored 5351 and 4241 points. The numbers indicate the AMD Big Navi GPU was bested by the NVIDIA Turing GPUs.

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT “Big Navi” GPU Specifications, Features:

The AMD Radeon RX 6800 series will feature two RDNA 2 based graphics cards, the Navi 21 “Big Navi” based Radeon RX 6800 XT and the Radeon RX 6800. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT will reportedly have Navi 21 XT GPU featuring 72 Compute Units or 4608 SPs. The card will pack 16 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit bus interface. This means the GPU has a 512 GB/s of total bandwidth, and 2015 MHz Base Clock, and 2250 MHz Boost Clock at reference specs. According to recent reports, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT will have a TDP profile of 320W for reference and 355W for custom variants.
