AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series To Face Shortage Due To Crypto-Mining Industry?

The upcoming AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series of Graphics Cards are expected to pack the most powerful GPUs from AMD. The RDNA 2 or Big Navi Graphics Cards might not yet be able to earn the title of ‘NVIDIA Killer’, but their demand is expected to be higher than NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3000 Series in a particular industry.

The AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series of graphics cards could be in exceptionally short supply in the initial days owing to the Crypto-Mining industry. This is because rumors claim the new Big Navi or Navi 2X based AMD Radeon 6000 Series of Graphics Cards, with the GDDR6 VRAM, is excellent for mining cryptocurrencies. Serious cryptocurrency miners could aggressively purchase several Graphics Cards from the Radeon RX 6800 Series.

AMD Radeon RX 6800 Is 50 Percent Faster Than NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 in Mining Performance?

According to a message posted on QQ, a Chinese tech blogging and discussion forum, AMD Radeon RX 6800 non-XT variant is 1.5x faster in cryptocurrency mining than NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090. This is a big and serious claim because as per recent testing, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 is currently the best GPU in terms of profit including electricity cost. According to estimates, the premium NVIDIA Ampere-based graphics card can generate 3.37 USD worth of cryptocurrency each day. This translates to more than $100 per month.

If the AMD Radeon RX 6800 non-XT variant is indeed 1.5x faster in cryptocurrency mining than NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 then the graphics card can potentially earn nearly 5 USD per day, presuming just a single graphics card is being used. This means using a single AMD Radeon RX 6800 non-XT variant, cryptocurrency miners can potentially earn nearly $150 per month. The earnings and profits jump exponentially when multiple GPUs are working.

It is important to note that the AMD Radeon RX 6800 non-XT MSRP is only 579 USD. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 can cost at least $1499. Simple math indicates the RTX 3090 will need about 15+months to recover the costs. Meanwhile, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 could recover its cost in less than 4 months at the current rate, and then start making a profit from the fifth month itself.
