AMD’s Upcoming Zen 4 Based 7600X Tested, Crushes the i9-12900K

APISAK, in a tweet showed us the benchmarks of a 6 core/12 thread AMD SKU in cpu.userbenchmark.

This CPU is supposedly the R5 7600X. The variant used in this test runs at a rather high base frequency of 4.4GHz whereas the boost can go up to 4.95GHz.

For reference purposes, it was compared against Intel’s i9-12900K. To everyone’s surprise, it crushes the Alder lake king by sometimes over 22%. Unfortunately, we cannot compare the new Raptor Lake CPUs as the competition will not be fair due to them using a different benchmark.

When put against its predecessor, the 7600X takes a massive, and I repeat a massive lead of over 50% in single core testing. Such a massive gain in performance is unexplained, indicating that this may be the 7600X3D.

No official announcement has been made regarding AMD’s upcoming Zen 4 CPUs. However, a few days ago a listing came up which confirmed the CPUs planned for Zen 4’s initial launch.

  • Ryzen 9 7950X
  • Ryzen 9 7900X
  • Ryzen 7 7700X
  • Ryzen 5 7600X
Zen 4 is expected to launch sometime in Q4 2022. An announcement is rumoured on 15th September, 2022. Interestingly, Intel’s 13th gen has an expected announcement date of 28th September (2 weeks after Zen 4’s announcement) and a rumoured release date of 17th October. In light of this information, it is safe to assume that Zen 4 may land in the first week of October, 2 weeks before Raptor Lake, if things go accordingly.
