The holiday season just got better for Amazon. The e-commerce giant announced today that it had a record-breaking holiday season this year. The company in a statement said that more items were ordered worldwide than ever before. Millions of more Amazon devices were sold this holiday season as compared to last year. However, Amazon did not disclose its revenue from the holiday season and we will have to wait for the fourth-quarter earnings to understand more about it.
Amazon Best Sellers
The best sellers during the holiday season remained toys and electronics. The best-selling toys worldwide remained LOL Surprise!, Melissa and Doug Scratch Art Rainbow Mini Notes, and LEGO Creator Mighty Dinosaurs Toys. Electronic items were a key highlight in the holiday season with Apple iPad, Bose Quiet Comfort Headphones, and Wyze Cam being the top sellers.
One of the most popular brands during the holiday season in the fashion category was Carhartt. There were more than a million items ordered from this particular brand. Amazon Essentials, Calvin Klein, and Champion were also the popular brands during the holiday season. Top performing Amazon brands in the United States included Goodthreads, Daily Rituals, and the Stone and Beam Ceramic.
Amazon Devices and Alexa
Millions of Amazon devices were sold this year which included Alexa Voice remote, Echo, Echo Dot, and Fire TV Stick 4K. Millions of Amazon Fire TV, Kindle, and Fire Tablet were sold during the holiday season. Use of Alexa during the holiday season also increased with Alexa delivering 8x as many reminders as compared to the last holiday season. Alexa was used twice as much on Fire TV devices in this holiday season as compared to last year.
A billion Items Shipped
During the holiday season, Amazon shipped a billion items for free with Prime. Millions of items were shipped in the US with Prime Free same-day, Prime Free one-day, and Prime Free two-hour deliveries. Millions of new subscribers also signed up for Prime during the holiday season. These new subscribers either joined on a free-trial or paid a Prime membership fee.
