In December 2017, Outright Games announced their upcoming open world game titled Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion. According a report by Kotaku, the game was expected to be released in spring. Now, we know the exact launch date and the platforms it will be available on on.
The game will be available on July 17th in the US, and July 20th in Europe. It will be playable on PC, PS4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. The first trailer for the game was posted yesterday.
It is a 3D open world game with turn-based combat, exploration and a crew system. The premise of the game is that the Land of Ooo, home of all the Adventure Time characters, has been flooded. Finn and Jake, the main characters, wake up in a boat to find the Ice Kingdom has melted and caused sea levels to rise. Now, they embark on their journey and figure out how to fix this.
The game features beautiful 3D visuals that are similar to that of the original TV show. Multiple playable characters and turn based combat are part of the game. Similar to games like Sea Of Thieves, Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion features lots of sailing and the ability to recruit iconic characters from the show into your party.
The trailer shows that BMO, Princess Bubblegum and Marceline, all wearing pirate outfits, are able to join the crew. It seems that voice actors for all characters are the same from the TV show. Publisher Bandai Namco says, “Upgrade your heroes, use items, spells, potions and unique ultimate hero abilities to battle bad guys in fast-paced tactical combat.”
As a big fan of both the show and popular card game titled “Card Wars”, I am excited to play this game. Hopefully, it doesn’t follow the trend and fail like other licensed games.
