Activision to Shutdown Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera on Sep 21, 2023

In a recent announcement, it has been revealed that Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera (formerly Call Of Duty: Warzone) will be shutting down on September 21, 2023. This decision comes as the development teams behind the popular game shift their focus towards creating new Call of Duty content, including the current Warzone free-to-play experience (Warzone 2.0 or now rebranded as Warzone).
It is worth noting that any purchased content within Warzone Caldera, including items acquired from Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War, or Vanguard, will remain accessible within those respective games. Players can be reassured that their investments will carry over seamlessly.
Addressing concerns about the impact of the Warzone Caldera shutdown on ongoing gameplay, inventory, and player progression, it has been confirmed that there will be no disruption to these aspects in Al Mazrah or any other available maps. As a result, players can continue their Warzone journey without interruption and look forward to the upcoming Warzone experience.
We all have had incredible Warzone experiences across the Call of Duty franchise since its first launch, including those in Warzone Caldera.
For those players who haven’t jumped over to the current Warzone activities, expect a vast amount of gameplay choices across three Battle Royale maps (including Season 04’s new map Vondel), as well as Ranked Play, the DMZ Beta featuring five different Extraction Zones, BlackCell offerings, and more.
Players should prepare for even more Warzone content across consoles and PC, as well as a new era of Battle Royale on the go with the launch of Call of Duty®: Warzone™ Mobile, which includes a shared Battle Pass and cross-progression.”
The blog post ended with Activision thanking the players and the team behind the game for making the original Warzone a lasting experience. It will surely be remembered for years as the game that introduced the cross-platform Battle Royale experience in the Call of Duty franchise.
