A Game to relive the Plague days, at E3 with “A Plague Tale: Innocence”

Being one of the darkest times in the history of Europe, perhaps, even the world, the plague ridden are re-introduced in A Plague Tale: Innocence. The Asobo Studio production was announced to hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC when it comes out.

An adventure, apocalyptic game, A Plague Tale follows the characters Amicia and Hugo, who are siblings, in the streets of France. The story, taking place in the early 12th century, depicts rats swarming through the streets, polluting the Kingdom of France. In the apocalyptic world, rats devour everything they see in their paths, be it the city streets or the open fields in the country side, “plaguing” the area. This can be seen in the trailer below

As seen in the trailer, everyone and everything is being destroyed by the endless rats, that make even the viewers, shiver. Knights are seen to perish at their whim. Protagonists Amicia and Hugo are shown, with Amicia protecting her younger brother from the swarm of human-devouring rats. While all else is failing, the world around them being destroyed, their only safe bet is the yellow flame Amicia holds in her hands, keeping the rats at bay, not getting to her or her brother. This clearly depicts the idea of hope, which the people of that time had and managed to survive the horrible epidemic.

This emotional story, full of gruesome graphics and a scary depiction of Black death in medieval France really holds promise for gamers who enjoy games such as the Last of Us and Fall out. It is set to hit consoles and PCs in 2019.
