Niantic, the company behind Pokemon GO, has just announced that it will be hosting a series of real world Pokemon GO events all over the world. After the first Pokemon GO event last year that was held in Chicago, Niantic will kick things off in Germany next month.
The Safari Zone event, held in Dortmund, Germany, will run from June 30th till July 1st. Situated in Westfalenpark, this event will be open to all and will feature a variety of activities and a beautiful environment. The following Pokemon GO Fest event will be set in Chicago from July 14th to July 15th.“A Walk in the Park” will be the second Pokemon GO event to be set in Chicago and will be hosted in Lincoln Park. Niantic also said that a similar Safari Zone event is scheduled to be hosted in Yokosuka, Japan later in the summer. More events will be hosted throughout the summer in Asia.
The Dortmund Safari Zone Event is free to attend, but you will need to purchase a $20 ticket if you want to attend the Lincoln Park event. The tickets will go on sale at 9 PM PT on May 11th. A countdown to the first event has started on the Pokemon GO website.
Players who will not be able to attend the events physically can participate in online challenges and activities. Details on how this mechanic will work will be released soon.
More details have been revealed regarding the previously mentioned Pokemon GO Community Day. The Pokemon GO Community Day is a monthly event and will have a different Pokemon as the star every time. Charmander, the Fire-type starter, is the star this time and will spawn more frequently on May 19th.
While you wait, the Battle Showdown Event is available until May 14th. During the event, capturing Pokemon will reward players with triple the normal amount of Stardust.
